The strategy comes out of action 4 of the national Energy Policy Action Plan and is focused on supporting R&D of hydrogen and e-fuels production. Sectors of focus are heavy-duty transportation and maritime applications. In these sectors hydrogen and e-fuels are expected to play a crucial role in reaching the target of 40% renewable energy share by 2030 in the transport sector. The strategy is split in two-phases:
- 2020-2030: Building blocks;
- 2030-2040: Focused development.
PRODUCTION
The strategy expects the expansion of new power stations for domestic production of hydrogen and e-fuels.
CROSS-CUTTING
Focus is on exploring the potential for Hydrogen Valley concept to be applied in medium to large scale projects. Importance of fostering local knowledge and creation of highly skilled hydrogen technicians and researches locally.
TRADE
The potential for hydrogen exports from large-scale projects will be explored infeasibility studies depending on national decarbonisations progress.
END-USES
Mobility
By 2030 the focus is on developing pilot projects for e-fuels and their blending in maritime and aviation sectors. Post 2030 it is expected that hydrogen for heavy-duty mobility and e-fuels will mature. Future actions include creation of task-fore for energy transition in heavy-duty transport, incentives for low emission rental cars, energy transition of state-owned vessels, full depreciation in first year of cleaner vehicles and bonus of 25% depreciations of vehicles in the first year, no excise duty for electric vehicles, minimum vehicles tax irrespective of size.
