H2ITC – Hydrogen Independent Test Centre (BE12)
"Note: Breuer Technical Development SRL is an Associated Partner of the IPCEI Hy2Move. While they contribute to achieving the goals of the IPCEI Hy2Move, they do not receive state aid within the IPCEI framework."
BREUER TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT SRL is a trusted service provider and partner in IC-engine development for over 30 years. The services cover initial design-development, mechanical construction & production of complete prototype drivetrains and sub-assemblies up to comprehensive testing and measurement services. We support the automotive industry, research projects, and motorsport applications. The current test capabilities include dynamic benches for liquid and gaseous fuelled engines and E-Fuels, a climatic cold chamber and various component test rigs.
BTD is associated partner in the IPCEI Hy2Move wave. Within project BE12, we are establishing an INDEPENDENT TEST CENTER for industrial partners and institutions dedicated to H2, E-Fuels and Fuel Cell Technologies. The facility will enable drivetrain testing under ambient (up to 1MW) and harsh conditions, including high-altitude simulations and temperatures as low as -30°C, as well as testing of components beyond automotive applications. The project includes the development of 2 new research IC-engines, specially designed for operation with H2 and E-fuels.
The objective is to support the transition to CO2-neutral mobility by developing and validating new solutions. By providing independent testing capacity to IPCEI Partners – BMW DE50 – HDF FR27, as well as Universities, Start-ups, SMES, OEMs, and research institutions, BTD helps to advance their product development without the need for major investment in testing infrastructure. These expanded services strengthen BTD’s expertise in hydrogen technologies, contributing to achieve concrete application-oriented goals. A long-term objective is to establish the facility as a reference laboratory.
The construction of the test centre has been in full swing since autumn 2025 and we aim to be operational by autumn 2026. In the existing building, 2 test benches are converted to operate on hydrogen.
LOCATION: annexed to the existing company building in the industrial estate of MALMEDY (Wallonia, Belgium), approx. 500 m from the motorway with direct connections to Germany, The Netherlands, France and Luxembourg.
