Workstream 4 brings together Direct Participants who cooperate on innovative solutions for hydrogen production technologies best suited for mobility and transport applications. This includes activities related to innovative large-scale production, interfaces, and intelligent operating systems for decentralised electrolyser complexes that will be connected to Hydrogen Refuelling Stations (HRS). This workstream addresses the need to meet mobility-specific requirements regarding purity, pressure, size, location, interoperability, safety, and flexibility of hydrogen production.

The main objectives of Workstream 4 are the following:

• Development of technological solutions for electrolysers and chemical processes for ammonia cracking capable of meeting mobility-specific requirements for renewable and low-carbon hydrogen production in terms of purity, pressure, size, location (availability), interoperability, safety, and flexibility.

• Development of reliable, energy-efficient, and resource-efficient production solutions, while reducing the use of noble metals (including PGM) and fluorine-free materials and achieving other objectives.

• Strengthening digitalisation and automation and integrating Industry 4.0 principles into production lines for small-scale onsite electrolyser systems and innovative large-scale ammonia cracking procedures for hydrogen production.

• Development of components for electrolyser and ammonia cracking facilities, as well as remotely controllable operating systems, to define and realise cost-effective and efficient hydrogen production.
